How to Sell Your RV

There are plenty of reasons why you would want to sell your RV. You might be looking to downsize to a smaller, more manageable model. Or you might be wanting to upgrade to a larger, more luxurious vehicle. Whatever your reason is, you need to have a plan in action to sell your RV. Check out our handy guide for tips on how to sell an RV and where you might find a buyer. Visit us at Meridian RV, where our staff can show you around our current inventory. Our dealership, located in 100 Mile House and Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, welcomes customers from Vancouver and Kamloops, British Columbia.

Conduct Thorough Research

So that you end up selling your RV for a fair price, make sure you do the necessary research. There are online websites that offer guidance for various RV models. You can also try the guide created by the National Automotive Dealers Association. NADA shares different valuations so that you can see what price you can reasonably expect for your RV.

Be Transparent

Depending on how long you have owned your recreational vehicle, you may be aware of certain issues. The best bet is to be a transparent seller. If you are aware of a flaw, you should let any potential buyer know before making an offer.

Consider a Dealer or Trade-in Option

Although you might get less money from selling or trading in your RV with a dealer, this is an excellent option if you want to upgrade. You might be able to purchase a new RV through the dealership.

Online

Many people sell their recreational vehicles through online methods. For example, online marketplaces like Facebook and Craigslist have a great audience. Be forewarned that many people on these online marketplaces will try to get a crazy markdown. You can be choosy when it comes to potential buyers to avoid a frustrating encounter.

However, some websites exclusively focus on RV buying and selling. Consider this option if you want to avoid annoying buyers.

Display a ‘For Sale’ Sign

The simplest way to sell your RV is to put up a ‘For Sale’ sign in a window. You can put it out in your front yard or take it camping. People passing by can choose to inquire if they want to learn more. This option is okay as long as you do not need the RV sold quickly.
