How to Prepare for a Great Experience at the RV Show

Even if you’re happy with your current RV or travel trailer, RV shows are a great place to go to see what’s out there. Browsing costs nothing, and you’ll get the first peek at all the new production models. You’ll also meet plenty of new people who share your passion for RV camping and outdoor recreation. If you have any questions for RV Show success, visit us at Meridian RV in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, serving Vancouver, 100 Mile House and Kamloops, British Columbia.

Before the Show

Print out an exhibitor’s map from the event website, and plan your route through all of the vendor displays. Decide which dealers you definitely want to visit and check out their website before the RV show. Many events now include downloadable maps on their website or scannable barcodes onsite.

If the show takes place outdoors, check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and pack water and snacks. If you’re all business you’ll probably encounter the smallest crowd earlier in the day. If you want to mingle and meet new people, many RV shows feature special events and programs.

Making the Most of Your Experience at the Show

It’s showtime! The experience is best enjoyed with friends and family (including furry friends at many of the outdoor shows). There are often activities for the kids and informational workshops to attend, so keep an eye on the schedule.

As you talk with the RV dealers, you should approach the experience in the same way as an open house. The dealers know that they have plenty of people who are simply there to look and will assume the same about you unless you inform them otherwise. You can explore all the new production models at your leisure and let your imagination run wild. Even if you’re not currently in the market for a new RV, it never hurts to meet the dealers in your area and ask them as many questions as you want.

After The Show

You’ll probably come home with a huge “swag bag” full of brochures and promotional items. It’s probably more information than you want to deal with right away, but keep it handy. When you have some time on your hands, spread out the brochures on your dining room table and make your list of “must-haves” and “nice-to-haves.” Once you have a clearer idea of what you’re looking for it will save you time as you follow up with the dealers you liked best.
